This recipe combines robust Italian flavors with the convenience of quick cooking—so you can enjoy a satisfying, home-cooked meal without the wait!

Ingredients

  • 200g spaghetti (whole wheat for added fiber, or gluten-free if preferred)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 250g lean ground beef or turkey

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Optional
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil leaves

Directions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add spaghetti, and cook according to package instructions (usually around 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  • While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks (about 3-4 minutes).
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring well.
  • Add the Italian herbs, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Toss the drained spaghetti into the skillet with the Bolognese sauce, stirring until evenly coated.
  • Serve warm with a sprinkle of Parmesan and a few fresh basil leaves, if desired.

Notes

  • Serving Suggestions:
Pair with a crisp side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal. For added protein, consider a side of roasted chickpeas or steamed vegetables.
